After a shaky start, Justin Verlander settled down while the bottom of the Tigers batting order continued their tear to lead the Tigers to an 8-5 victory over the A's.  With their win last night, the Tigers took a 2-0 series lead in the ALCS.

Game 2 Summary: Tigers 8, A's 5

The series will now shift to Detroit where games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary) will be played in the confines of Comerica Park.  The weather may play a factor in these games since the forecast shows that it will be colder for these games.

Tigers Notes:  The Tigers will be without the services of 1B Sean Casey for the rest of the ALCS with a left calf injury.  Carlos Guillen will take over at first for the remainder of the series while Neifi Perez, Ramon Santiago or Omar Infante will take over Guillen's duties at SS.

In the National League, game 1 of the NLCS was postponed last night.  Game 1 will be played tonight at Shea Stadium with a first pitch scheduled for 8:00.  The starting matchups for the game are Tom Glavine for the Mets and Jeff Weaver for the Cardinals.
