With superb pitching from Jeremy Bonderman, the Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees 8-3 yesterday to win their best of 5 division series 3-1.  This also marks the first playoff series win for the Tigers since winning the World series back in 1984.

Game 4 Summary:  Tigers 8, Yankees 3

The Tigers won't be resting for long as they prepare to face the Oakland A's in the ALCS.  Game 1, in Oakland is scheduled for Oct. 10 at 8:00.

In the National League, the New York Mets finished off the L.A. Dodgers with a 9-5 win last night.  The Mets took the series in three straight games.  The Mets will await the winner of the Cardinals/Padres series, which continues tonight.  St. Louis has a 2-1 lead in the series and a win by them tonight, the Cards will be advancing to the NLCS.

With one LCS set and one that is almost set, the games played so far have given fans a lot to cheer about, especially the fans of the teams that are advancing to the next round.  It will be interesting to see what transpires in the next round of the playoffs and I for one can't wait to see what happens.
